The Phyllanthus urinaria is a native plant of Assam. Leaves are alternately arranged along the erect, red stem. The leaves are oblong or oblong-obovate, 7-15 mm long, 3-7 mm wide, rounded with a sharp point, obliquely rounded at base, nearly stalkless, pale beneath. The leaves are large at the tip and smaller towards the petiole. When touched, the leaves fold in automatically. The medicinal herb Phyllanthus urinaria is used for treatment of jaundice, diabetes, malaria, and liver diseases. The common name of phyllanthus urinaria is stonebreaker, chamber bitter, gripeweed, shatterstone, or leafflower. The Assamese name of phyllanthus urinaria plant is Mati Amlakhi or Bhui Amlakhi.
