Leucas aspera is an annual herb within the genus Leucas and the family Lamiaceae. The plant is easily visible throughout Assam. The Assamese common names is দ্ৰোণ, দুৰুণ (Dron, Durun). Other common names are Common Leucas, Thumbai or Thumba, Ghal Ghase (in Bengali), Chota Halkusa, Gopha (in Hindi), Dronapushpi (in Sanskrit). The species has many different common names depending on the region. It is known for its various uses in the fields of medicine. Leucas aspera grows in dry, open, and sandy soil.Leaves of the plant is opposite, subsessile or short petioled, linear or narrowly oblong- lanceolate, entire or distantly crenate, obtuse, narrowed at the base. Flowers of Leucas are white, small. The Leucas is popular herbal medicine and develop the immunity of body to fight diseases. Leucas aspera have antifungal, prostaglandin inhibitory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antinociceptive and cytotoxic activities.
