Averrhoa carambola is a species of tree in the family Oxalidaceae native to Assam, a state of India. It has several common names, including Kordoi or Rohdoi ( in Assamese), carambola, star fruit and five-corner. It is a small tree or shrub that grows 5 to 12 m tall, with rose to red-purple flowers. Averrhoa carambola produces edible fruits. The fruits have medicinal value and are used to treat liver problem.
