Polygonum microcephalum

Polygonum microcephalum is a perennial herb in the family Polygonaceae. This edible herb is native to Assam and the taste of leaves and stems are slight sour and Assamese people cook the leaves and stems in various fish curry dishes. The Assamese common name of Polygonum microcephalum is মধুসোলেং (Madhusuleng, Modhu Huleng, Modhuhuleng, Modhuxuleng). The plant generally grows moist and shady soil. It is not very drought tolerant. Leaves are alternate shapes of leaves are ovate, lanceolate. Colours of flowers are white and flowers are clustered.
